First, thanks to everyone for listening, reading, and sharing Bright Green Futures! I’ve got lots more interviews and monologues queued up, but they need editing, and a virus hijacked my week, so we’re going with a standard newsletter today. Barring other disasters, we should be back to weekly podcasts next Friday.
SIDEBAR: When I say the world needs more gentleness and healing, I try very hard to apply that to myself as well. People get sick. They need rest. I am also people. I didn’t intend to give an object lesson in taking appropriate downtime quite so early in the podcast, but here we are. As the saying goes, schedule your regular maintenance or your body will schedule it for you. In my case, a virus interrupted my (always overly) ambitious plans for a weekly podcast for the moment… but I’ll be back on schedule next week. That’s part of it as well: healing builds resilience. It’s how you stick around to fight the fight.
Meanwhile, I gave away some stickers! Five people who took the bold leap of subscribing to my brand-new podcast have MOVE PURPOSEFULLY AND FIX THINGS stickers on the way! Please share (if you’re comfortable) where they ended up getting stuck!
If you want your own sticker, you can purchase one here.
Meanwhile, you may have noticed the new art that we have for Bright Green Futures!
The logo, headers, and podcast artwork are courtesy of Methyss Art, because I believe strongly in supporting the human-made art you want to see in the world.
Sue’s Statement on AI: I’m strongly committed to not using generative-AI in any of my stories, art, or associated audiobooks, podcasts, etc. In a time when AI companies feel free to steal copyrighted material, including my works and works I’ve commissioned, for their plagiarism machine, I’m committed to not only not using any form of gen-AI myself, but doubling down on my support of artists and narrators who are quickly being put out of work.
Finally, toward the end of May, I’ll be giving away a two copies of Little Blue Marble’s A World on Fire, a slim anthology that contains my very short prose-poem Rewilding Indiana alongside a bunch of great climate fiction.
I’ll pick from subscribers towards the end of May, so if you haven’t already subscribed, now’s the time!
Bright Green Futures is a weekly newsletter/podcast. Check out the Featured Stories and Hopeful Climate Fiction lists for further reading. The best way to support the show is to subscribe and share the stories with your friends.
