Book Giveaway: Solarpunk, Activism, Inspiration
When Sue Orders Too Many Books
I have a bit of a book problem, in that I really buy too many books. Sometimes, I literally buy two copies of the same book! In fairness, I sometimes do this intentionally, like when I order extra copies knowing I’ll give them away. But sometimes, dear reader, I am simply that much of a doofus and I order the same book twice…
…like I did when I preordered The Beginning Comes After the End: Notes on a World of Change by Rebecca Solnit. Sometimes, I just get too excited.
My Goofiness is Your Gain!
So I’m doing a giveaway to clear out some of my “extras”.
TO BE CLEAR: these are all amazing books. This is why I have two copies!
They include Buyerarchy of Needs creator Sarah Lazarovic’s book about buying less and differently; Read This When Things Fall Apart, a series of essays about surviving the horrors; Doing Democracy, a primer on social movements; a copy of the 2022 Best of Utopian Speculative Fiction collection (contains my story, Seven Sisters); and finally Rebecca Solnit’s new book, which hasn’t even released yet (comes out March 3rd, but I managed to preorder two copies!). There are links if you want to purchase your own, and as always, these are great requests to make at the library!
Click the button to go to the giveaway form, where you’ll find more descriptions about the books and links to check them out yourselves!
When I posted that I was reading Solnit’s new book, part of my routine of self-care, she noticed (!!) and commented on my bookmark…
I’m the proud owner of the full rainbow of Solnit books and highly recommend them— I use her works as a kind of devotional to get back to center and carry on through the horrors.
Nebula Nominations Close February 28th
Just a reminder that the stories in the Bright Green Futures anthology are eligible for Hugo and Nebula nominations! The Nebulas close tomorrow but Hugos are open until April 4th, which is how long I’ll keep the anthology free to download, to encourage people to read.
Which they are!! I love to see it.
