"The idea that once you head down the road to fascism there’s no turning back is demonstrably false".

Sadly, it is demonstrably true. Fascism is a pretty perennial ideology, and once their are in power, it's most of the time forever, no matter if they dfo not hold their promises. They only quit the power when they lose a war (original nazis) or when they die without having planified their succession, but almost never because people resisted to them. If you look at the actual dictators around the world, you'll see they are in power since decades, if not more.

We already crossed enough tipping points to make the rise of fascism unstoppable, and it's a matter of time before resistance have no ability to even exist because fascist are able to make them disappear with the snap of a finger, and don't give me examples of resistance from the past, because original nazis didn't have technologies like AI and big datas, wich could have prevented them to lose the war if it existed at this time.

The fact is that it's now impossible to counter anti-doomerism narratives without selling hopium, and your article confirms that.

Given "lose a war" and "die" by definition mean "did not last forever" you're kind of defeating your own argument there.

Which appears mostly to be "it's impossible to resist." And yet I shall continue to resist.

My real question to people such as yourself, who are fully invested in believing it's impossible to stop fascism: what actions are you proposing, then?

Actually, the exemples of defeated dictatorships are so rare that they can be considered as exception, and it will be increasingly the case as their technological ways -big data, GAFAM, AI- to vanish any resistance. We are heading to a 1984 under steroids where resistance can't virtually not exist. Even the so-called climato-optimists look more and more like badly assumed doomists, the only way to hope is becoming an hopium dealer.

My question to you: what actions are you proposing, then?

Your answer appears to be "no actions are possible".

Which is not an answer, it's an attempt to keep people from taking action. Or perhaps it's a justification for your own inaction by saying it's "impossible" without regard for the impact that has on discouraging *other* people from taking action. Except your pointed attacks on me as a "hopium dealer" aren't passive — it's again, an active attempt to keep people from taking action.

I doubt this interaction will change your determined lashing out, but you might consider how you're helping the forces you claim to think are "1984 under steroids".

I dare you to cite a single example of action that won't be made both illegal and/or virtually infeasible in a more or less short term. Resisting will soon be even more dangerous than it was under nazi Germany.
